7 illustrations
I thought for a visual look, it would be appropriate to upload a post with all seven finished illustrations on it together:

T shirt booklet
When an item of clothing is bought it comes with this limited edition booklet with all the new design illustrations in it out of T-shirt context and in song context, I thought it would be a smart idea to make this a lyric book linking the relative image with the appropriate song.

I am designing this in full colour and in a nice handheld scale of A5.
At first I was going to have the images on one side and the type on the other, but after I messed around with it it seemed better to have the image spread over this is good because:
-all the images are different shapes
-they are all in different formats
but may be bad due to:
-folding of the book, creasing the ink.

This image was the worst to lay out due to it being so wide, this seemed to be the best scale for it as when I made it smaller to fit on one page it did no justice for the image and made it under A6 sized which left far to much white space.
This image again was a little wide, I chose to have some of the images background spikes cut off in order for the composition to work, it isn't a big deal due to it not being the main image that is cropped.

I then added the type in for the lyrics and tried all kinds of ways of laying out the type. after carful consideration of what typeface to use I narrowed it down to a simple legible Helvetica Nue and using a bold to highlight key transactions from the lyrics in which the image was born.

As can be seen below I messed around with different layouts and in the end it seemed best to central justify the text and use a Pt size 8.

I thought that the titles should stand out more than the lyrics as that is the main reference for the customers if they want to listen to the song to hear the lyrics.

I chose to cut the lyrics in half on this page in order to work around the illustration, I believed this is the best way to do things in order to keep clarity and not have to mess around with transparency's which may lead to some print mis haps.

Some titles were long so I condensed them down to make full use of the page rather than having a long title on one small line.
The typeface I used had some ineligible characters in it, such as the letter 'r' I chose to use a higher case 'r' 'R' for this so the title is read correctly and it says over not oven.

The main thing I believed that was missing with all this is the pages seemed quite clear.
I then added a gradient which I thought looked quite good, then overlaid a colour which worked in colour scheme with the particular page the viewer is on.
I cut it off half way to make use of the white space and give an interesting effect which creates a visual hook across the page.
I coloured in the type a little brighter for the title just so it stood out that little bit more and made the reader realise that is where to start from.

I had a big problem with this image and its white space which is when I chose to make the gradient a little thinner, which isn't that noticeable and I think gives the image a bit more of a breathing space.
Same issue with the red page and text but I will have to print it out to get a preview and change the opacity if need be.
All that is left to do for this is:
-Front cover
-Back cover
-Index
-Page numbers
-Test print
-Finish print
Label
Below are the titles to each theme of illustrated item of clothing.

I want to incorporate the title on the label of the specific item in which it relates to. Below is a inside label I designed, I wanted it to be really basic and only be 3 colours, I chose black and gold as the main colours as I really like it and I think it stands out very well for all the good reasons.

I got the idea of making the label slightly bigger and adding the title in along side to the right, the DD is for Drop dead, simples.

Re write
Some issues have a risen in my brief which has led to me changing the outcome of what was expected. Due to the fact that time is a constant enemy, these illustrations take to much time up so I am shortening the range from ten illustrations, down to 7.
I am the ocean, I am the sea, I have a world inside of me
This was a quite hard one to gain ideas for, I thought about all different kinds of solutions to things to do with sea and planets but overall I ended up trying an illustration out with Greek mythology again, this time using Poseiden, God of water which covers I am the ocean I am the sea, the world bit was more tricky, I ended up coming up with the full idea mid way through illustrating which I will get onto with my progress.

As always I started off my illustration by laying down the fine lines and building up a degree of texture upon hem to make them stand out. I chose to do a symmetry design to save time.

Once all the body was done I thought it would be a cool idea if (like a dyson hover) the skeleton of the God rested on a ball which separated man from fish, I thought how can I really make it look relevant, which is when I came up with the idea of drawing a ribcage holding the planet in place.

It was a risky idea but looking at the outcome I got really confident with the design and loved how it was looking at its early stage of design.

I chose a bronze colour for the skin to give a golden glow as it is stated the Gods have in old mythology... or Disney's Hercules.
The scales look really good, I am very pleased with the outcome of the project up to this point as a lot of it was constructed as I went along and it was a challenge to draw.

The rib cage needed to fit in to the design scale wise and in composition in order for it all to lay out and look correct.

I needed the planet in the rib cage to look detailed and as real as possible, I think I managed this by using different strokes and a combination of colours found on mostly water based planets with little land.

Once it got to this point I had to reflect the image and work out how it looked once put together as one.
After quite a bit of tampering I came up with a solution to the joining of two halves which I will show in a moment, One main issue was that the planet did not look right free flowing with the body, I wanted it to look like it was inside, so I added a series of pink layers to look like inner skin.
The trident was my way of escaping the centre problems, looking at type faces I thought a bad boy one would look good, I chose this type face as it suited the illustration with power.
