With a bit of experimentation I found out that using the waves I did previously was to much of a clash between elements and I was overdoing everything, It was at this point I then decided to simplify things and try a background against the octopus which ended up being very beneficial and worked out quite well, I finished off with a white highlight around the main image just to make it stand out, which worked wonders, the next step is to try different layouts for the composition of my t shirt and to think about type. As this is a strong independent image and the message is quite secretive I have considered possibly leaving type out of this, But I will experiment further as I do think a light blue could work really well at the chest of the t-shirt spelling out DROP DEAD. I also want to include the quote in which the octopus is related somewhere on the t-shirt but in small.

After I drew out the main image for my anchors design I needed to add a waved background, I started off by looking at japanese waves and tattoo art to gain some ideas of how I could incorporate the two images together in the same style.

After I had made a rough template I added some thick blue lines for the depth of the waves

After that was complete I overlaid the original lines with a deeper colour of blue to create a background which stood out.

Once that was complete I used a creamy colour to colour in the top of the waves and the splashes.

I added a darker grey and some highlights in the cream waves to make them stand out more, there was only one thing left to do after all this.

Which was incorporate both images together, Im not sure wether the composition is a little out or whether the colours are wrong but the images didn't go to well together in my opinion and it was missing something, but it may well be the pirate ship which ties everything together.

Front magazine (double page spread and cover)

We want you to create two double page spreads to feature in our magazine ‘Front’ as well as a front cover featuring details on the magazine.

The magazine reaches out to a lot of young people and it is important to keep them interested, the double page spread needs a good theme that we haven’t done before, but is in the same style as our previous magazines.

Drop dead clothing

We want you to design at least 10 items of clothing for the men’s or and women's new range to feature in the new Flag ship store featured on Londons Brick lane. As well as advertising the new range and store with A2 promotions for the event. Which can work in smaller and larger formats as well so it can be featured in magazines such as Kerrang and front, be on billboards also can be accessed on a digital basis for online users.

Also at least 5 A2 boards showing a journey of development.

Circuits by PTI's

As a PTI you have to be fit and able to instruct a small/large group of troops in exercising to keep them fit. We want you to create something for the soldier to remember what exercise he/ she is doing when they get to that mat. (for a 24 exercise circuit.) we would like you to produce a method in which each troop can understand what exercise to do when they reach each matt as well as a hand out to be given at the end so they can try these exercises at home that they learned in the lesson.

269 Artillery

269 battery of 101 royal artillery regiment need a set of at least 5 new t-shirts making as the old t-shirt is out dated and doesn’t make much sense and doesn’t really have anything to do with the unit, this is a fast brief and should be completed in no longer than 10 days.

Black axe is one of my new found designers who I am deeply inspired by as well as designer violence, these will be the two designers I will be discussing at the tutorial.

My work relates to my design focus as I am an illustration based designer whom desires to produce work for clients such as brand new, criminal damage, drop dead, manchesters street shops, atticus, famous stars and straps not to mention other work for bands such as mayday parade, the academy is, breathe carolina, gallows etc. I would also like to produce work for interesting magazines which feature the kind of illustrations I love to do such as front, fhm, nuts, kerrang and even other illustration/ design based magazines such as creative review. As I am quite new with this form of design I believe that there are a lot of necessary and critical areas in which I need to explore, colour, print, strokes, scale and composition are just a few vital points I need to look into and experiment with.

At the moment I am struggling to explain how my dissertation links in with my work, All I can really say is that as I am studying hyper reality and inception, the link could be that the illustrations I produce are almost drawings created from imagination and who is to say they are not real and we are? are we not god for we created such designs?

At the moment I am focusing on my drop dead brief and have been carrying out illustrations for one of my clothing products, I hope to have two finished for friday.
