Dreamweaver part three

Review:
last week we learned coding and how to create a home page (frame work of the home page)

This week:
How to make a template
How to make multiple pages: just add it into the template and automatically updates the website - easy to maintain.

Corporate ID top left
Buttons on left
picture right of background

There is going to be different content on each page
Root folder always goes into user work.

So search engines can find your site:
Home page title e.g. Apple - different tabs on each page. Welcome to the apple store US
Doc title - Editable region
Name = head - to add more information

File and new to open new html template
Copy editorial for the title and paste into new template which would look like this:

At the moment instead of the codes being in green, it is in grey as the HTML cannot understand what the site is saying until the finish when you can save it as a template. Need editorial region in body.

Template - .dwt - Dreamweaver template.
Tags in head - the next step of editorial is the start editable region -
'templatebegineditable...name-head'

Broken link icon - the image is not in the root folder next to the sub folder 'Images'

Editable - insert - template objects - editable region
Name of region should have purpose of use e.g. Content

File and new. page from template (middle left) list of all sites created - open portfolio.
when the file is opened/ created, write in content what page things are, save as (all broken links appear) and so on. This is how the template works.

Buttons, bottom left 'link' point the blue arrow over to the left hand side to the appropriate page.

* in the tab means it is not saved. File and save all. Open in safari and check that the links work.

All that is left to do is to add the appropriate content.

To start editable region
!--TemplateBeginEditableName="___"--

To end editable region
!--TemplateEndEditable--

Bus shelter

Type and slogan, (with image)

Grobold is the appropriate font to use at this stage, perhaps when the imagery comes together a more effective/ appropriate font will be chosen but at this stage in the game we need to get the context image produced to tryout some sample pieces.

Running

We took a few photos of running in order to get a shape for our packaging figure which would be replacing feelix, however, the images did not come out so well, but as we were only using the images for the figures shapes it was not a major concern.

This image below with the red dot is the one I am going to be putting forward to Anna for production as I think it is the one which is the most appropriate shape to be using for the project.

I think images like the one below would not look like a runner when in bold.

The last few images don't work as our aim was to ge tthe whole body in of the sport, rather than cut off points from the head and legs. I think the image with the labeled red dot in the bottom left cornor is the best shaped image and will be the one which will be used for our packaging purposes.

Composition

Basically the way I want the ad campaign to work is to have the main object (the drink, or in this case flask) the main image, with a low to up angled shot. I want the photo to read left to right, so the main image is on the left everytime. with in context the background would be a sports event taking place. Such as football, jogging or basketball. Possibly spot colour, once the images are taken we will experiment with their editing, but for now, this is the concept of composition.

quick ideas for layout

Rather than the design quality the image placement is what I would like to work on, bearing in mind all of this will be in better detail but just to give ourselves a better index on how I would like to layout the photograph will make a world of a difference. These quick illustrations give me an understanding of what I would like to do.

For the football one, I would like the drink to be placed on the floor and an upwards shot to be taken with footballers in the background playing.
And for the running one, I want the drink to be placed on a post by Hyde Park in Leeds. (A popular running area) with the jogger in the distance, doing their thing!

3 sport aims and layout concept

Football
Basketball
Running.

Original idea was to have one of the images taken earlier of sports activities and to use it as a background image for an advertisment shack, with the image of the fruit drink overlay on the left. similar to this:

However we had the idea of making the image even more simple by adding there being two layers. One image and one text, rather than two image and one text. I plan to carry out an experiment to see how it would look with two images and one image. My only worry is that the image looks to photoshopped if it is overlay over another image, rather than an image of the drink in a sporty context.

(A really basic design to illustrate how it would look better in context)

Notes and quotes

To do list

Typeface annotation

We looked at a number of different typefaces and evaluated them to whether they met our target which was, to be formal and fun with a nice hint of motivation, a of of the typefaces seemed to be inappropriate because of the target audiences and messages they gave off. e.g. some were fun and active but promoted sitting down at home and watching sport on tv. others were more interesting and had big hints of motivation but nothing which would work very well with an image.

Football photos

The reason we do not include apparators in the images sch as goals and nets is because e want to really push the fact that you don't need to have those things to do the sport, bar a ball obviously. maybe a sports campain where you can get a free ball when you buy so many drinks?

Alot of the photos are zoomed in in order to get the shape which has led to the distortion of the images, as well the camera could not pick up on some of the images due to the speed the ball was moving and how close the camera was.

design development

The essential ideas for this research are is that the colours of the vector like image would represent the drink flavour and the swirls would be the taste and feeling you get, like an explosion of tastes that just make you want to run around. The image below would relate to apple.

This would be blackberry

And this orange

In essence for every drink flavour we want a different sport and colour to best represent the content of the bottle. I believe that this is an interesting and unique apporach and would be very cool to work as a set of different flavours.

devopment on design

As we stated that we weregoing to re brand the logo earlier, the main reason behind this was that we felt as though the yoga approach was far to tame, and did not fit into what feel good really want, we need the logo to be energetic fun and appropriate, active. We want people to be interested in the logo. think about how many people watch yoga on tvin comparison to other active sports football, rugby, basketball etc. exactly thats what are aim is. Anna created an interesting shilouette from the basketball photos we had taken earlier and made some interesting concepts for the label, which would replace the Feelix character our aim is to make the drink popular for its natural qualities.

Label work

We have come up with a few logos before we buckle down and design one, we are going to design around 100 before we choose one for sure

Everything has brackets - not visible in web page design

Untitled document - the page type at the top i.e. Apple.com what search engines use to discover sites:

www.blogspot.com just crashed and deleted all of my notes and saved me with the first 2 minutes of the lecture. :(!

recap of what I remember:
rollover images - buttons,
condense file - save as web design
different codes i.e. paragraph

Basketball Photos

We wanted to give the re branding of the drink a strong feel of activeness and motivated sports rather than just standing around with a ball. We wanted to add posture to make the audience think wow I wonder how you would do that.

We went out to Black man lanes park in which we took some photography of me playing basketball and Anna shooting with the SLR, she took over 60 photos and we pinned them down to these photos which we thought were quite interesting to the campaign:
This shot is quite interesting because of the shape. so much can be taken from the silhouette of this image and some of the others. this image states taking a leap and trying something creative with sport. It doesn't have to be a chore, it can be fun.
This is the classic slam dunk shot which would be achieving a goal in this case the goal would be going out and drinking our drinks when doing sport.
Some of the shots came out slightly light exposed due to the sunlight.
Some of the photos could of been a lot better if they were closer up. in essence I think in context we should of focused more on the silhouette shapes.
Some of the actions seem a little lazy for what we want to promote such as the once above.
Some of the photos don't make sense in relation to the sport. this image looks more like rugby than basketball.

These photos above and below are very interesting due to the contrast from the light exposure making the image have an automatic silhouette which gives the photograph a very sporty and healthy vibe. Bright lights shadows, morning runs. ACTIVE.

This image is interesting due to the lay ups skip jump. it give it an interesting funny appearance which may be taken the wrong way to our audience as we want them to do sport but then again we do want them to have fun, either of which we want them to drink our drink.

I believe the images Anna took are very successful and have a lot of development potential. I plan to go out within the next day or two and take some photos for different popular sports. Running and football are key sports which had strong results in our audiences answers on our questionnaire 'What makes you feel good?'
