Mock ups of my designs in context

For my final outcomes I mocked up the t-shirt layouts and possible colour solutions.

The box in the middle is where I was told it is possible to print.

I found that certain colours really complimented the images were as others

really took away and made to much of a clash.

This image looks awful, it looks like the image has just been stuck on.

I think the problem is that the print cannot be placed down at the bottom so the cut off looks really weird.

Yet again on the right colour the t shirt looked great.

I think the dark colours should be avoided with this design in majority.

This is a concept of other things that can be done with the octo design but I want it to be on a tank top

and have it wrap around like this:

This image is plain and simple, it doesn't look very interesting so I think colour would be necessary for this image in particular.

I find that blue makes it look to much like a superman t shirt.

as with red it blends in to much on one side.

same with orange, it just looks odd, but in reality it should work as it is the inbwtween colour of both sides of vader christ.

Black works really well and would be the T shirt colour for this one.

I found that this image works un believably well with with a variation of different coloured t shirts and layouts.

Black and white looked amazing as a contrasting pair

stretching the image made it seem to boxed in.

But with the right positioning it even worked out to look quite well.

The grey worked so well with the illustration as it ties in with the background and images context

Red strangely worked well also.

as with other un common colours in fashion they brought out different elements when focused on the imagery.

Within this I found that it was more of a task making it look bad rather than good.

I am very happy with the selection, I am going to mock up a few more ideas ranging in some female designs as drop dead isn't just for boys

Autograph?

I had a interesting idea when it came to type and the characters name, I thought it would be a lot more personal if I got the signature of each of the ten and labeled them next to the illustrations. The only issue was legibility and the factor that every image of the signatures are a bad quality, I traced over the marks made by each of the legends and put it into experimentation.

To get a feel for all of the illustrations to work as a set I put them together with their signatures underneath as a JPEG so the quality is not lost.

Final piece

For all the right reasons M.J was the final person I had left to draw I chose him as a younger artist with some of his breath taking solo work, It was deemed appropriate to choose the thriller outfit for the theme of the magazines DPS.

I put the first foundation of detail on, my aim for this illustration was to make it cleaner than the others.

And in all honesty I believe I achieved it, this has to be one of the neatest drawings I have done in regards to the number of anchor points.

I also noticed I hadn't given many of my zombies a dark green look, so that was what I did with this one and I think that it looks fantastic and the minimalist approach with the blood suits the illustration quite well.

Shake it

With this design I wasn't sure what to do with such an open space, the outline worried me slightly as it was pretty vague but as I built up the layers a form of reassurance comforted me.

There are a few key areas which seemed a bit off such as his bald patch eyes and facial hair.

As I got further with the design it all came together, there are a few things I may alter with this illustration within the facial hair department other than that I am quite happy with shakespeare's out come.

Coming together

Now I have a little income I can get my designs printed, I bought a few t's and vests the next step was choosing which design went on what colour.

After what was a good 20 minute waste of my own time I chose the colours and designs.

The next step was working out the scale the designs had to be and to reformat the photos.

Once this was done I made a high quality list featuring the answers and tomorrow I will begin to print.

Product

These are the final products printed off, 36 fliers with return slips on the side and one poster to promote the event within the bar at Carlton barracks.

The prints came out very well and the illustration looks great on a physical context.

Christmas party at 269 invites and promotional poster

For the artillery's christmas party I have been asked to produce a 'poster' for the event, the theme of the event is warrior, I have lost the illustrations development but I thought that it would be a great idea to incorporate a really masculine character for the party which was recent and inspirational which is when I chose to use spartans 300 for the promotion but with a little alteration, in this particular alteration I chose to change the type around to the battery's regiment number which is 269, the hosts and location of the party.

I was also asked to do something which could be handed out to each member who regularly occurs the battery functions, I was asked to make 30 hand outs... the printer tricked me and as a result I have 36. to keep the theme army related I made a risky move of combining two colours that are not best friends in the colour wheel, but as a result it ended up working out really well and has kept a military theme.

Type wise I was asked to keep the type clear, I chose to use helvetica in white, which looks really good

For the front magazine one of the limitations I set for the brief was to leave the typeface but use the skeleton to improve on it, I decided as the illustrations where my main inspiration for the magazine It seemed plausible to give the type a hand rendered structure to make it more jagged and unstable to best display a halloween character.

Once the outline was complete I added texture to each letter using a narrow ended calligraphy brush focusing in on reversing the spikes towards the letter and back out.

Once complete I added some halloween like colours I thought green orange and purple would be the best suited colours for this particular theme.

I found orange to obvious

and I was not sure about purple or green so I chose to experiment a little further with both.

I took away the black outline and thought that this looked pretty cool as a result.

I added deeper tones to give the letters some real character.

In the end I thought that green was a good choice for the colour but I am yet to decide wether or not I will use this particular typeface, I am going to experiment further with other ideas meanwhile.
